Solavei Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection

T-mobile MVNO Solavei has recently filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection.  They state that business and service will continue as usual, and commissions on referrals will continue to be paid by the worlds first "social commerce network."  Solavei fully expects to emerge from chapter 11 by the end of this year.  I suppose this is possible, but in order for Solavei to make it through this, I'd have to think they are going to have to make some serious changes.

I'm not sure their current referral program will be sustainable as it is, let alone be approved by bankruptcy court.  One would also have to imagine they will soon be offering up new service plans which may not be the most economical for their potential customers.  Perhaps they could borrow from a competitors book such as Republic Wireless and figure out a way to implement wi-fi to cellular network hand offs to save some serious cash.  Solavei currently really isn't offering anything all that unique MVNO wise outside of their referral program.  There are cheaper and better value T-mobile MVNO options out there if T-mobile service is what you are interested in, so they better come up with a new plan fast if they truly want to emerge from chapter 11.
MVNO's coming and going overnight is not unusual.  Several have disappeared over the last year, and this is always a risk you take when switching over to one.  Fortunately it is relatively easy to switch from one to another if you were to one day wake up and find out your provider has gone belly up.
